A Quick Look at Hydrapak’s Morro Pack
While many of its competitors have been expanding into
alternative products as opposed to relying on the hydration pack market;
Hydrapak has opted to utterly optimize the concept of the hydration pack
resulting in the Pro Series. One of the Pro Series, the Morro, has received
rave reviews by an assortment of reviewers in the United
States, Australia,
and Europe and probably represents the best
large hydration pack on the market today. By all accounts, this pack addresses
almost all of the complaints and concerns related to earlier hydration packs
and it is probably the best large hydration pack on the market today.
The redesigned pack itself has 800 cubic inches of storage
space, which seamlessly combines a hydration pack with a basic backpack with
the room to carry a day’s worth of accessories and additional gear. The pack
has a dedicated zipper pocket between the foam back of the pack and the main
storage compartment which is perfectly designed to hold the reservoir without
taking up an excess of space. The main compartment has five separate pouches
and zippered pockets, designed to help keep important gear separated and
accessible. On the outside, there are four more zippered pockets and two
stretch pockets. The pack has a foam back that rests against the wearer
allowing for air flow, padded ergonomic shoulder straps, and an integrated
slider chest strap. The overall effect is one of the best basic packs on the
market today and it has received top marks from most reviewers.
The Morro comes with the three liter (or 100 ounce)
Hydrapack Reservoir which is frequently deemed the best reservoir on the market
today. One of the primary selling points of the reservoir is that it is fully
reversible, meaning the opening is much larger than those found on other
reservoirs making it both easy to fill – even with ice – and incredibly easy to
clean and dry when not in use. This last ability – the ability to turn the
entire reservoir inside out – makes it especially popular for people that like
to use beverages other than water since it can be cleaned out so efficiently.
The Hydrapak Reservoir is also free of BPA (Bisphenol A), meeting most health and safety guidelines for
water carrying plastic containers.
The reservoir also comes with Hydrapak’s well known Big Bore
hosing, which has plug-and-play connectivity to the reservoir and the mouth
valve. Hydrapak’s brand new Surge mouth valve that has just been introduced in
2010 is also included. The Surge valve has a fixed forty-five degree angle that
allows for perfect ergonomic drinking, allowing the user to get a strong
mouthful of liquid when desired, but effectively blocking all leaking when not
in use. The Surge valve is the very height of modern mouth valve technology.
The Morro, along with other packs from the Pro Series, have
received rave reviews from many different sources including the Denver Post,
MTBR, MTO Bikes, and many others. The general consensus is that this represents
one of the best large hydration packs on the market today.
